2451 Michael “David” Parks became whole when he stepped into heaven in the presence of Jesus. His smile was infectious and he loved life and lived it to the fullest making others smile. David loved sports of all kinds and was a faithful Vols fan. He loved texting his friends all over the country, and when he laughed it was with his whole body. He loved traveling, especially seeing sports stadiums, family and church get-togethers, holidays and parties, all his cousins, anything chocolate and taking care of his mom and dad. From childhood through adulthood, David loved Marvel Superheroes not knowing he was our hero.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories and give thanks for the privilege of being his family; parents Tommy and Kathy, sister Hope, aunts and uncles Fay and John Townsend, Sue and Bob Henley, Stan Branson, Beverley and Al Kelley, Barbara Hart, Ellen Ridge, James and Gail Parks, Gary and Janice Parks as well as a host of cousins, his church family and numerous friends including Alton Lingerfelt.

Obituary of Monty Joe Parks
IN THE CARE OF
Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist-East Brainerd Chapel
Monty Joe Parks, 57, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
“Although a musician by trade", Monty was also an avid collector of comics, toys, vinyl records, and items of Pop Culture. He was a proud graduate of East Ridge High School, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Covington Theological Seminary, where he received a Master of Theology and a Doctorate of Ministry.

Monty served as a minister of music in several churches, enjoying the paths the Lord set for Him for many years. However, he was most proud of the work he did at Orange Grove Center in Chattanooga. While there, he taught music and directed a choir of wonderful individuals who became dear friends and brought joy wherever they performed.

Monty now joins his parents, Joe and Wilda Parks, in rejoicing before the Father.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Parks, son Joel Parks (Anna) Nashville, son Josiah Parks and daughter Emily Parks, Chattanooga, granddaughter Billie Dot Parks, Nashville, and brothers Michael Parks (Randie) of Cincinnati and Marty Parks (Vicki) of Mississippi.

Blocher. It was on the land that Hugh originally claimed. One of his grandchildren, Hugh Parks was

Notes for James Lewis Parks:
James Lewis lived in Kansas in the late 19th century, appearing on the US Census in 1880 in
Agnes City Township, Lyon County and again on the 1895 Kansas State Census. James Lewis
and Emma McGaffin's first three children, Westley, Eva, and Omer, were born in the Agnes City
area. By 1900, he was living with his parents James and Mary Ann Parks in Butler Township,
Harrison County, Missouri. Three of his children, Eva, Omer, and James Thomas, were living with
him there. By that time, Emma had died. James Thomas was born during the Missouri residence.
Another child, female "M" age 2, appeared on the 1895 Kansas Census but not on the 1900
Missouri Census. The 1895 Kansas Census shows that child "M" was living with a neighboring
family, the Yeagers. Child Eva was living with another neighboring family, the Naffs. Emma and
Lew were living nearby with Omer, age 11, and another male child, "E" Fitzgerald age 12.

Notes for Emma Rebecca McGaffin:
The 1885 Kansas Census shows Emma living with the J. W. Davis family in Agnes City Township,

could not have been born in 1862 as her daughter, Eva wrote in her notes about her family.
According to the 1860 census, Emma was less than 1 year old at the time of the census, so was

A Sad Affair

Everyone in the North Lyon county was greatly shocked when they learned the sad news last
Friday night of the death of Mrs. Cora Parks and her infant daughter, which was caused by
drowning in Elm creek on the farm of Wm. Shultz, north-east of Admire, last Friday afternoon,
where the Parks family resides and while Mrs. Parks was temporarily insane.
The funeral was held at the Allen M. P. church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Smith,
being well attended considering the disagreeable weather, after which the remains of both mother
and babe, were laid to rest in the same casket at the Allen cemetery. The case is most certainly a
sad one and space prevents us from giving details of the affair, but the near relatives and friends of
the departed ones will have the sympathy of everyone is this their hour of affliction, which will,
sooner or later, confront us all.

Second story of same event from Emporia Weekly Republican, 5 Nov 1903 p 8 col 4--Drowned
Herself and Baby--Mrs. Parks, Near Allen, Ties Her Baby to Her Breast and Jumps into Elm Creek
With It.
Mrs. Lou Parks, who lived on Elm creek, north of Allen committed suicide last Saturday
and carried her infant child down to death with her in the muddy waters of Elm creek. Mrs. Parks is
said to have been deranged for sometime and her husband has been staying about the house and
watching her. Saturday he went over to a neighbor's to help him with a small job of work. It was just
about time for the older children to come home from school and he thought the wife would not miss
him till they came. When the children arrived home they found a note, on the table, which read "I
am going to drown myself and the baby in the dam." The agonized children hurried to the dam
across the creek and there found their mother with the baby bound to her breast with a stout cord
and both in the water dead. They gave the alarm as well as they could in their agonized state and
the neighbors took the bodies out. The place where the suicide occured is just in the edge of
Wabaunsee county. The mother and child were laid to rest in the Allen cemetery, Rev. Smith, of
Admire officiating.
