in the dark" Lucy Ellen Parks was born in Hickory County, MO, January 24, 1855
and died suddenly at her home in east Bethany, April 2, 1921, aged 56 years, 2

church much in the last few years on account of failing health she often expressed
herself as strong in the faith. She will be sadly missed in the home and the
community in which she lived. She was always ministering to the sick and afflicted
and doing many deeds of kindness. Therefore I would say to the sorrowing ons
"Weep not as those who have no hope. She is not dead, but sleepeth."

dear to both young and old, especially the Joseph Bartlett family, in which place she

made her home for over 29 years, helping rear some of the younger children and
being like a sister in the homes and an own aunt to all the grandchildren.

      Mrs. Banky Henry of Osage City, Kan: three brothers, Hugh Parks of Miller, MO;

Clay Center, Kans. Mrs. Mary Morris of Mammoth Springs, Ark, and Susan
Nicholas of Bethany, and numerous relatives and friends.
The beautiful funeral offerings showed the esteem in which she was held.
Funeral services were conducted at the home April 5th by her pastor, Rev.
      C. V. Pearce, assisted by Dr. W. S. Welsh of the Methodist church with interment in
      the Miriam Cemetery.
"There is no death--the thing we call death
Is but another, sadder name for life,
Which is itself in insufficient name,

That flower whose shodow is the Universe."
